Partner, Commercial Litigation Attorney
CurrentI am a commercial litigator and counselor in Chicago. I concentrate my practice on commercial litigation in a broad range of subject areas, as well as intellectual property counseling and litigation. I have a particular wealth of experience litigating disputes arising from corporate insolvencies, including fraud, RICO, and professional liability claims, as well as intellectual property disputes. In addition, I have successfully represented clients in cases involving the Illinois Consumer Fraud Act, Title VII, breach of contract, negligence, and fraud. In my intellectual property and entertainment law practice, I have secured, protected, and enforced the intellectual property rights, and drafted and negotiated agreements, for software developers, advertising firms, clothing designers, manufacturers, artists, musicians, libraries, and entertainment concerns. As an integral part of teams of Robinson Curley litigators, I have worked to achieve tens of millions of dollars in recoveries for the firm's business and entrepreneurial clients. In some cases, I've led the teams or worked cases entirely on my own, in others I've contributed to and implemented litigation decisions directed by my partners. Given the small size of our firm, I have active roles in all aspects of litigation, whether a nine-figure federal RICO litigation or straightforward state law business dispute -- from conceptualizing and budgeting, through research and writing, discovery, hearings, and resolution. I pay particular attention to guiding clients through each litigation phase, so they can understand, contribute to, and communicate their expectations for every step in the process. In my intellectual property practice, I help clients protect their rights, primarily through trademark and copyright registrations. I have obtained registrations for a wide range of businesses, particularly small start-ups. I strive to reach the balance between maximum protection and cost-effectiveness.
