Working in Ballintemple Food Store has enabled me to build upon some of the skills I've learned from MTU. Working in a local artisan shop, I am comfortable working alone. On a day to day basis I handle goods in and out, manage the till accounts/banking and most importantly customer service. Since I often work alone I have excellent problem solving skills and if necessary strong communication with the manager for any situation out of my depth. Being able to see in person the use of managerial skills helped me to properly conceptualize the theory behind management decisions. Being able to work closely with the owner allowed me to learn from example the importance of customer service and how to create a loyal patron.
