My focus is on the specialty finance industry, providing audit, other assurance and consulting services. I work with middle market clients who are public companies, companies owned by private equity groups (PEG), and family-owned businesses. Serving these types of clients, I help clients with industry specific issues related to revenue recognition, the allowance for credit losses, and other loan-related items. I also assist with technical accounting issues such as accounting for business combinations, potential impairments, and equity-based compensation, among others.Our Specialty Finance Practice serves non-bank lenders. Companies I serve are primarily consumer installment lenders, including direct consumer lenders, auto finance companies, and furniture/other indirect installment lenders. We also serve many other prime and nonprime lenders, including those focused on pawn, leasing, credit cards, structured settlement / lottery, merchant cash advance, debt buyers, and others.Clients in our Specialty Finance practice are increasingly using securitizations as a means of obtaining debt financing, and we assist clients with the due diligence and AUP requirements related to those offerings on both a pre-transaction basis and an ongoing basis.I have worked on several intra-state and Rule 144A debt offerings, as well as an initial public offering (IPO) and two secondary offerings for a diversified specialty finance company who is listed on the NYSE. These offerings involved significant coordination, both internally and externally with the client's personnel, the client's SEC counsel and the underwriters' counsel. I have also worked on multiple buy-side and sell-side financial due diligence engagements related to potential mergers and acquisitions on behalf of audit clients and PEGs.Working in assurance at RSM (formerly McGladrey) in Raleigh, North Carolina since August 2005, and I have been a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in NC since November 2006.
