As a Systems Analyst at L-3 Communication I managed the infrastructure used by multiple areas of the Greenville facility. As part of my duties I engineered and maintained the storage and server environments for the engineering and manufacturing groups for L-3 IS-MID. This environment included Dell Compellent Storage Array, EMC/Brocade FC Storage Switches, RHEL 5 and 6 servers running on standalone and RHEV servers, and HP-UX servers running 11.21 and 11.31 on HP-9000 RP4400 and HP BL870 and BL860 servers.

As a UNIX Systems Engineer I support and engineer the production, test and development environments for JC Penney’s UNIX systems. As part of my duties, I engineer and support out supply chain/logistics, UNIX mail, back up and monitoring systems. These servers run both COTS (Red Prarie DMS, HK Systems Cell Director, EMC Networker, and IPlanet) and In-house written software based on Informatica and 4GL. The systems are hosted on Solaris (8, 9 and 10), HP-UX (11.00 and 11.11), and RedHat Enterprise Linux (3, 4, and 5). The middleware used Oracle, Informatica, Tibco, MQ Series, 4GL and Java.

As a member of the Enterprise Testing Center Infrastructure team, I worked as a liaison between the Supply Chain / Manufacturing Operations Teams and the Enterprise Testing Center and Systems Engineering Teams at PepsiCo in Plano, TX. As part of my duties, I worked with the application support/development teams to determine server and storage requirements for new and existing projects, as well as day to day support of the non-production environments. As a Sr. UNIX Systems Administrator / Systems Engineer I supported and engineered the production and development solutions for the UNIX, SAN, and Backup at Compucom Systems (formally GE IT Solutions). My day-to-day duties included routine maintenance, problem solving, software installation, system security, and assisting in engineering of new system solutions for customer and corporate use. This environment consists of two main platforms: Sun Solaris (2.6, 7, 8, 9, and 10), and Tru64 (4.0). I maintain approximately 40 servers in multiple locations. These servers include, but are not limited to Sun Ultra 60, E250, E3500, E4500 E5500, E6500, Compaq Alpha ES-40, 2100, and 4100. These servers use internal, external standalone disk arrays (Sun D1000, A5100 and Compaq HSZ-70), and EMC storage (DMX 800, Clariion FC4700 and CX 3-80). NAS, including NetApps and EMC Cellera, storage was also used. This environment is monitored using Mercury SiteScope and Concord SysEdge. These systems use Veritas Netbackup for daily tape backups and disaster recovery. I work hand in hand with the Oracle DBA’s and developers supporting the Oracle Databases (8.1.6, 8.1.7, 9i, and 10g) and Application servers (11i). I also help administer our web environment comprising of J2EE, Apache, Tomcat, WebMethods, IIS, and Web Objects. This environment had used Veritas VxVM, VxFS, and Veritas Clustering.

I work as a Sr. UNIX Systems Administrator supporting the day to day operations of the UNIX environment at Cummins Engine Company, under Lockheed Martin. My day-to-day duties included routine maintenance, problem solving, software installation, system security, and assisting in engineering of new system solutions for this customer. This environment consists of three main platforms: Sun Solaris (2.6, 7, 8, and 9), AIX (4.3), and Tru64 (4.0, 5.0, 5.1 and 5.1A), running on approximately 180 machines globally. These machines include, but are not limited to Sun Ultra 5, 10 and 60, E450, E4500 E10K, SunFire 6800, Compaq Alpha 1000, 2100, 8400, and G160. These servers use internal, external standalone disk arrays (Sun D1000 and Compaq HSZ-70) and HDS for storage. NAS, NetApps, storage was also used. This environment is monitored using BMC Patrol and backed up using Veritas Netbackup. Parts of our managed systems also include Tru-Clusters 5.0 and Appworx schedule management software. I work hand in hand with the Oracle DBA’s and developers supporting the Oracle Databases (8.1.6, 8.1.7, and 9i) and Application servers (11i and 12i).

I worked as a Unix Systems Administrator supporting the Billing Mediation Group for Sprint PCS. My day-to-day duties included routine maintenance, problem solving, software installation, and engineering of new system solutions. This environment consisted of approximately 100 machines, including HP workstations and Servers (B180L, R, L, N class machines, and Superdome) running HP-UX (10.2, 11.0, 11i), Sun Servers (E420R, and E6500) running Solaris (8), and multiple EMC Symms contented using switched fiber to each machine. These systems were clustered using MC/Service Guard and Veritas Clustering. I wrote several Korn shell and PERL scripts to automate some of my day-to-day tasks, performance/system-monitoring routines, and provide web visibility to 1st level support. In supporting the operations software (CEOS) and networking, I had to maintain X.25 routers (UconX and Cisco) and assist with support of switch level trouble-shooting (Nortel, Motorola, and Lucent).

I worked as a UNIX Systems Administrator supporting the design, compile, and load build environments on site for Nortel. My day to day duties included routine, maintenance, problem solving, and engineering of new system solutions. This environment consisted of approximately 1800 machines, including Sun Enterprise class (E250, E420, E450, E3500, E5000) and desktop machines (Sparq 10 and 20, Ultra 5 and 10), HP-9000s (425, 712, 725, 700 B, C, E, J, and 800 A, H, K, L, N series), Auspex 1K and 2K machines, an EMC (Symm and Celera), Mac G4s, Motorola VMEs, and NetApps. The machines ran Sun OS, Solaris, HP-UX, Linux, AIX, Chorus OS, and NAS OS, including NIS, DNS, and NFS. I wrote Perl and Korn shell scripts to actively monitor systems logs, disk usage, IO, and performance, using cron. I also wrote script to simplify other day to day tasks.

As a UNIX Systems Administrator, I worked as part of the team supporting UNIX operations worldwide. My duties included security, backups, disaster recovery, system maintenance, troubleshooting, and other day-to-day administrative responsibilities. The systems included multiple HP9000s (712, K, and N series) running HP-UX (10.2 and 11.0), and DEC Alphas (8200, 8400) running Tru64 Unix (4.0f and 5.0a). The DEC Alphas were clustered using TruClusters and connected to 2 Compaq Storage Works cabinets. The systems were used for running Oracle, Lawson, Kronos, Hyperion Essbase, other in-house applications, performance monitoring, control, and backup software. The systems were also used for primary and secondary DNS servers. To accomplish monitoring of system logs, disk usage, and system performance, I wrote shell scripts in Korn and Perl.

As a consultant I worked in Client/Server Systems Support assisting Phillip Morris, USA with the management of their UNIX and NT platforms. My duties included back-ups, disaster recovery, troubleshooting, and day-to-day administrative duties. The platforms used included HP-UX running on HP9000 (800 H, K, N series), AIX running on IBM (SP/2, and RS/6000), and Solaris (Sparq 20, Ultra 10, and E250). The applications on the systems included SAP R/3, Oracle, and multiple monitoring tools including Spectrum and HP Openview Glance Performance Manager. I also worked with Perl and Korn shell scripting to monitor system logs, disk usage, IO, and performance using cron.

I worked in the AIS Greenville Operation supporting real time manufacturing, test systems, and the on-line company and vendor document software for four different locations. In doing so, I gained experience in working with NT, Novell, and UNIX, both HP-UX on HP 9000 (800 K Series, 700 C, and E series) and SunOS on Sparq 20 platforms, as well as integrating the systems using ASU9000 and LAN Manager software from Hewlett Packard. I also gained real time programming experience working with C and Perl scripting, as well as writing support software in C/C++, Visual Basic, and HTML, and using Access and Oracle Databases; I wrote scripts to reformat flat files for easy reading in Oracle by PL/SQL. I also performed scripting to do disk, IO, and performance monitoring and notification. I worked hand in hand with all facets of the corporate chain from manufacturing personnel to the Vice President in support of the above systems for purposes of ISO 9001certification and contract requirements.

I supported the tape archiving system for multiple oil exploration customers. The system was a UNIX based platform, using shell and C scripts for transferring data from dated tape technology to DLT format for better data compression and longer life expectancy. I wrote scripts to reformat flat files for easy reading of in-house software.
