My practice focused on commercial litigation, government and internal investigations, compliance, and white collar criminal defense.Representative litigation matters included: multiple arbitrations for healthcare provider in contract dispute with insurer; representation of companies and individuals in federal False Claims Act matters; actions for breach of contract; partnership disputes; shareholder derivative actions; ERISA litigation; representation of lender against borrower for loan default; representation of a business being audited for potential wage and hour violations; representation of individuals investigated for federal criminal fraud allegations; representation of individuals charged with state and federal felonies. I routinely appeared in state court in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and in various Federal courts, including in the Southern District of West Virginia and the Southern District of Indiana. I advised businesses and executives on compliance with various federal and state regulations, and I advised witnesses in interactions with law enforcement and regulatory agencies.

I served as the twenty-third Presidentially appointed United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, leading an office of over 100 dedicated professionals committed to upholding the law and pursuing justice.

I investigated and prosecuted violations of federal criminal laws, including complex drug trafficking and money laundering cases as part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), which targets complex multi-jurisdictional/international criminal organizations.I also served as Ethics Officer for my office, providing guidance regarding legal ethics issues.I prosecuted hundreds of federal felony cases in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. I tried approximately 30 federal criminal jury trials.I am admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky.

I worked as a judicial law clerk for Senior United States District Judge Henry R. Wilhoit, Jr. I prepared legal research and summaries for hearings and trials. I also served as a liaison between Judge Wilhoit's staff, the United States Clerk's Office and the United States Probation Office.
