Responsible for up to 140 avionics technicians and supervisors and their maintenance of the Sqn's Chinook Helicopters at RAF Odiham and when deployed throughout the UK, or the rest of the World including the Falklands, Iraq and Afghanistan, in heavy snow or temperatures up to 70 degrees Celsius and on board aircraft carriers.During this period I worked as an instructor, Technician, Supervisor, Independent Inspector, Trade Manager, Rectification Controller and Battle Damage Repair Assessor.Instructor and subject matter expert for 6 months in the Chinook Maintenance School teaching avionics systems to technicians, supervisors, trade specialists and Officer engineering managers.Senior Avionics Technician carrying out complex system fault diagnosis, functional test and rectification on the Chinook helicopters avionics and related systems such as flight and engine control.Supervision of the above.Independent inspection of all critical systems and others as required to ensure correct assembly, electrical connection, routing, clearance, operation and functional test.As Trade Manager over several months for 140 avionics personnel carried out arrivals briefs, booked trade related courses, acted as trade specialist investigating in depth faults and worked as liaison with industry and field service representatives.Rectification controller responsible for providing serviceable Chinook aircraft to maintain the continued Medical Emergency Response Capability from the Immediate Response Team Chinook Helicopters at Camp Bastion.As a Battle Damage Repair Assessor recovered two Chinook Aircraft outside the wire in Afghanistan and repaired battle damage to Chinook aircraft at Camp Bastion, Kandahar airfield and Kabul airport where I also helped to clear unexploded ordnance from the airfield.

My position involved teaching, mentoring and role play. I was also maintaining the training aircraft and role playing various personality's to interact with the students. Also trained and operated as a gas turbine engine runner and ground taxi pilot to provide authenticity to the training program for RAF Engineering Officers in the final consolidation phase of training. Maintained course ware and helped to implement the course design.
