After graduating from Villanova University with my bachelor’s degree in Astronomy & Astrophysics, I moved to Maryland and applied for graduate school to get my master’s degree at Catholic University. Rather than getting it in Astrophysics, I decided to go for Mechanical Engineering. I made this decision because there was a comfortable amount of overlap between the two fields and mechanical engineering has much more diversity in career opportunities. However, when the time came around to choose my courses at Catholic University, I was met with the reality that none of my courses taken at Villanova met the prerequisites for any of the graduate courses. This gave me the perfect opportunity to evaluate my intellect, patience, and determination. With no mechanical engineering background, I had to complete 10 level 5-6 courses without getting any grade lower than a 75 to get my master’s degree. To make matters worse, the pandemic shutdown started a mere 5 weeks into my first semester. That meant that I had to research and learn levels 1-4 on my own and learn the material covered in levels 5-6 without consistent accessibility to any professor or tutor. It was one of the most difficult challenges in my life, but I managed to not only graduate with a 3.5 GPA, but I also graduated a semester early.My father suggested that I get into banking because of my math skills and experience with customer experience. Fortunately, a friend of mine worked at TD Bank and his branch was hiring. I was hired as a part time teller but was quickly promoted twice to my current position as a full-time retail banker. Over the past year at TD Bank, I developed a strong relationship with dozens of our customers, including several high-net-worth customers such as business tycoons, billionaire heirs, and former athletes. My strongest assets to the bank are my ability to identify customer needs and to deepen the financial relationship between our high-net-worth customers and the bank. There are times where I help the bank close deals of hundreds of thousands of dollars in a single day. I led my team in wealth referrals and contributed to our branch smashing our wealth goals by 300-400% every quarter. For my efforts, I was awarded with the Employee of the Quarter Award. Research: During my time at Villanova University, I spent two years doing undergraduate research.
