Robert M. Patton is a Distinguished Research Staff in the Computer Science and Mathematics Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Group Lead for the Learning Systems Group within the Data and AI Systems Section. He has over 17 years of professional experience in government research and development as well as being the principle investigator (PI) of more than $2 million in research funds. His research focuses on artificial intelligence, evolutionary algorithms, and machine learning as they apply to data analysis, information processing, and prediction. His work has achieved more than 100 publications, 4 patents, 3 software copyrights, 3 R&D 100 Awards, and 3 nominations for the Association of Computing Machinery Gordon Bell Award.
