In my role as the Associate Director of Bands at West Orange High School, I direct the 240-member marching band, concert band, and jazz bands to achieve outstanding performances, securing top honors at the annual Music Performance Assessment for four consecutive years. This accomplishment highlights my strong instructional skills, leadership abilities, and knack for inspiring excellence in teams.As an AP Music Theory teacher I've reached over 450 students, guiding 65% of them to a passing score on the test, consistently outperforming both state and global passing averages. I am intimately acquainted with the exam content and format. I was invited to give two presentation on test strategies at the Florida Music Education Association annual professional development conference in 2017 which received positive feedback. 🎶 Career Highlights• 18-year veteran of teaching AP Music Theory and recognized leader in AP Music Theory pedagogy. Presented a session on test strategies at the Florida Music Education Association state-wide annual professional development conference. My classes’ passing average for the last six years is 5% higher than the global average, and 13% higher than the Florida state average. • Coordinated the high school portion of the OCPS All-County Jazz Festival for the past 11 years. In that time I developed and assessed audition materials to ensure quality and validity, aligning them with real-world expectation and state-level audition events, digitized the registration process, and reduced workload for 30+ participating directors, resulting in a 113% increase in student participation.• Served the Florida Bandmasters Association as District Chair for Orange County for two years by managing large performance events (1000+ participants) while coming in $9,000 under budget.• Developed the multiple-choice end-of-course standardized test used by Orange County Public Schools for Band 5, assessing student achievement against state standards.
