Development Team Manager - "Tagg - The Pet Tracker"
I spent one year designing, implementing and deploying a new offering for Snaptracs, a Qualcomm company. "Tagg - The Pet Tracker" is a consumer focused pet tracking system that helps dog owners track their pets movements, and assist with their recovery in the event that they "wander off".As the leader of the Newport Avenue team responsible for developing the tracking portal for this product, I managed relationship with the customer, reviewing requirements and screen pictures, and converted them into stories and demonstrable iterations for development by my globally diverse development team. I managed a global development team to implement the website, which included interfacing with many other systems, including billing, and the hardware communication and carrier provisioning gateways. My team and I also supported the Tagg product through testing, launch and initial support. Technologies used: Jetty, Java, Stripes, Spring, Oracle RDBMS, JMS(Tibco & ActiveMQ), Javascript, Ext-JS, JQuery, Bing Maps.
Project Engineer - Service Fleet Manager
Service Fleet Manager(SFM) was Qualcomm's first venture into tracking systems for small metropolitan fleets. SFM was a vehicle tracking and utilization system for small to medium metropolitan vehicle fleets, such as HVAC and plumbing companies. I managed two development teams; one in San Diego and one in India, using Agile methods, to build an initial offering in nine months. After the initial release, the same teams were used to produce new feature releases every three months. Features added included integration with 3rd-parties for tax payment generation, support for other tracking companies to use the system to generate additional value of two products supported from one installed devices, SAML-compliant SSO, and Driver safety scoring and risk management through integration with another company.SFM was also deployed into select markets in Latin America, providing a lower cost alternative to satellite based systems, and also as a "lo-jack" type addition to Qualcomm's satellite product. By controlling the ignition and throttle circuits on large trucks, many millions of dollars of products were successfully recovered. I also provided 2nd level support for the Service Fleet Manager products.Technologies Used: Java, JBoss, SQL-Server, iBatis, Hibernate, Stripes, Ext-JS, Google Maps, Web services

Worked with Sprint and Qualcomm's networking to get leased lines between Sprint to support AAA authentication of devices. Omnione - Lead Engineer. Built a workflow application on a BREW handset to enable dispatchers to send messages to truck drivers with handsets in order to dispatch them to the appropriate locations. It also enabled drivers to collect information on location and pass the information back to the dispatch systems. Omnione Europe - Project Engineer. This project involved taking the concepts of the previous two projects and merging them. The European markets dictated that BREW could not be used and also that SMS as a device wakeup mechanism could not be used. The handset application was re-written in J2ME, including GPS capture from a bluetooth GPS device. This project involved setting up an MVNO relationship with Vodafone.OmniExpress Europe – Project Engineer. This project uses the MVNO with Vodafone and an embedded device running Nucleus. This device captures GPS positions, sensor information and driver information, from the tachograph, to track large vehicles and provide a system to provide vehicle tracking and to monitor driver's hours.Technologies Used: Java, Tomcat, JBoss, SQL-Server, JMS(Tibco), TCP/UDP, XML, SMS, J2ME, WAP-Push
