I started as a CAD Operator at Cleveland State University. I was a student working toward a double major in physics and electrical engineering. During my time there I worked in the maintenance department with other students. I took the campus blueprints, which were either architectural floor plans, electrical, plumbing or HVAC drawings and created digital copies onto the server using AutoCAD. These were later used by the team of architects and maintenance personnel we had at CSU. The age of the blueprints we copied also meant we needed to confirm the existence of things like walls, doors, classrooms, etc. So there was a lot of redlining and correcting of each drawing that needed to be done.I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physics. I started as a lab tech at Flow Polymers, working in their QC department testing incoming raw materials and finished products. Afterwards, I was hired as a Process Chemist at Polymerics developing prototypes according to customer requirements and making any changes in the development process to ensure a stable and reliable product design. Later, I switched from rubber to ceramics as I was hired as a research technician at Saint Gobain making custom designed ceramic catalyst carriers. While also using AutoCAD to make designs for tooling so that new parts could be made to facilitate the new design formulations for catalyst carriers.
