Phd StudentUc San Diego 2006 - 2013La Jolla, Ca, UsMy research in bilingual language processing was stymied when bilingual multitasking advantages began to interfere with my results. Rather than abandon my research question, I created a new research tool using pupillometry. The human pupil dilates in response to increased processing demands, so by time-locking pupillary responses to aurally presented sentences I could continue my research. I developed an empirically sound research program across multiple language populations monitoring cognitive processing demands while participants listened to sentences in order to examine the complex relationship between language and cognition. In addition to leading the general operations of the lab, I managed a staff of 20 student volunteers and lab assistants and recruited thousands of volunteers and paid participants from the San Diego community at large. -
