Roberto Suárez Antola is a generalist scientist with work experience in applied mathematics, physics, biology, medicine, and engineering. Doctor of Biological Sciences (Mathematical Biophysics) by University of the Republic (1994, UDELAR), Magister in Biological Sciences (Biophysical Physiology, 1991, UDELAR), Postgraduate Degree in Nuclear Engineering (University of Buenos Aires, 1988) and Bachelor of Physics (1976, UDELAR). Besides, he received medical training (four years of medical school, 1970-1973, UDELAR) and was trained as a public manager through the Management Training Program of the Office of Planning and Budget of Uruguay (1998).He made deepening studies in applied sciences and engineering in Argentina, Austria, Brazil, England, France, Germany, Spain, and USA. Besides, he studied music and plastic arts.Between 1980 and 1984, designed the curriculum and directed a Bachelor of Physico-Mathematical Sciences at University of the Republic, coordinated an OAS project (laboratory of vibrations and ultrasounds) and a UNESCO sub-project (mathematical modelling and digital simulation in sea sciences). Between1990 and 1998 was head of the laboratories of the former National Atomic Energy Commission, including X-ray Fluorescence, Radio-Analysis, Agricultural Applications, Nuclear Medicine, Electronics and Nuclear Instrumentation, Mathematical Modeling and Computing, Non-Destructive Testing, Isotopic Hydrology, Environmental and Industrial Applications, a working group on Nuclear Engineering and a specialized library.Between 1990 and 2013 was Associate Professor, Full Professor and head of the Electrical Engineering Department of the School of Engineering and Technologies (FIT), Catholic University of Uruguay. Between 1998 and 2001 was director-administrator in AMBIO environmental company (Uruguay).He has given courses, conferences or technical presentations in Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Spain, France, Jamaica, Malasia, Paraguay, USA, Dominican Republic and Venezuela. He coordinated five national cooperation projects with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and four ARCAL projects. He was advisor to the National Board of Scientific and Technological Research and integrated that counsel. Between 1986 and 1994 he acted as an IAEA expert. Since 2017 he is Senior Consultant and Technical Director in OMNIA Sciences/Technologies/Services.
