OEF incubates peacebuilding programs, investing in design, strategic guidance, operational support, and fundraising acceleration to de-risk innovative models of work and scale them with larger traditional funders. At OEF I led the Impact, Learning & Accountability (ILA) department, responsible for establishing the institutional frameworks to articulate strategies and metrics of success, generating useful information that can inform decision-making, and facilitating sensemaking and planning sessions for teams to incorporate lessons learned and iterate their way forward.

For the last five years I have had the privilege of helping to shape the inner workings of OEF, working as the right-hand thinking and implementing partner to the current Executive Director & COO. In my time at OEF, since being tasked with creating a new framework and process for program development, through serving as a de facto chief of staff through a leadership transition, to being asked to step in to lead our Impact, Learning & Accountability (ILA) department and revamp our monitoring and evaluation efforts, I’ve been naturally drawn to diagnose issues and design innovative solutions that solve them. In my role as Director (and previous Deputy/Acting Director) I work with a tight-knit team building systems to drive OEF's incubation of scalable peacebuilding models and weaving the trust-based relationships within the organization that enable grounded learning and purposeful iteration.

The Program Development Process I developed during my time in Strategy was infused with concepts drawn from the success of the private sector, such as validating our ideas before we launched them with our stakeholders and narrowing into a proof of concept of our intended programmatic work before seeking to expand our scope or scale. During this time we evolved the strategy of the incubator itself. For many of these months, as we navigated a leadership transition, I served as the number two to the Acting COO, providing operational follow-through support and strategic advice.

As the Program Development Process evolved, I moved into a role focused more on the incubator's strategy writ large. Working with leadership at the time we applied concepts from the Process to existing programs. This included innovative tools such as an "ideation canvas" identifying the Program Purpose, the Rigorous and Narrow Definition of the Problem the program existed to solve, and its Unique Value Proposition.

During my first year at OEF, as part of the Future Labs team, I developed a brand new institutional Program Development Process. We used this framework in Future Labs to guide new program design. Eventually the framework evolved and became the underpinning strategic framework for the Foundation as a whole.

A prior potential investor in my startup invited me to join ICARO, an angel investment firm in Costa Rica focusing on helping spur the region's high-tech startups. During my time there, I developed strategic executive planning and performed market research and analysis for investments ranging from $200k to $1M in early-stage startups ranging from geolocated ads to whey-eating, diesel-producing engineered bacteria (I know, crazy right?)

I took the plunge into entrepreneurship during this time and bootstrapped a dental tourism startup. Learned an amazing amount about product development and launch.

Casa Blanca at the time was one of the largest retail stores in Costa Rica. I was tapped to resolve inventory issues by spearheading the design and relocation of new Central Distribution Center.

At Musmanni I worked closely on commercial strategy with the General Manager of non-franchised stores of one of the largest bakery/convenience store chain. During my time there I pitched a redesign of store floor use, in one case resulting in up to 80% sales boost.
