Engineering Manager | Emerging Countries - Sr. Operations Engineer
• Own the Operations Engineering Program to support Amazon’s expansion in Brazil. Scope of work includes the deployment of storage (pick mods, racking, shelving) and material handling technologies (conveyors, sorters, autoSLAMs, ancillary equipment) to attend business needs in several regions across Brazil; in partnership with stakeholders from Construction, Design, Start Up and Launch Teams.• Managed the deployment of all Ops Engineering scopes across the Amazon Brazil Network after the launch of GRU5 fulfillment center (FC) in 2019. This includes the launch of 9 fulfillment centers, 1 sort center and the full retrofit of the main FC in Sao Paulo (GRU5). Portfolio entails 16 major projects between 2020 and 2023. 100% delivered within schedule, cost and with full compliance with Building Requirement Specifications (BRS).• Establish, develop and lead a team of local talent to directly support Ops Engineering scopes in-Brazil. Currently managing a team of 6 Engineers: 3 in Brazil and 3 in Australia.• Develop strategic relationships with local Operations Directors and Senior Leaders, aiming at strengthening ties between both organizations. Establishment of proactive dialogue with Operations counterparts to attend needs, concerns and call outs related to Ops Engineering scopes.• Create partnerships with key vendors to support the Ops Engineering program in Brazil. This includes technical development and enablement of conditions for vendors to successfully deliver solutions per Amazon’s expectations regarding safety, quality and timeline. Three main MHE vendors and three storage vendors have been developed in Brazil.• Develop working relationships with Emerging Countries Engineering Services partners aiming at becoming one consolidated team in front of the customer.• Expanded scope of work to support Australian Ops Engineering team since July, 2023.
