Club World Championship 2021 China Project - SUSPENDED because of COVID-19 pandemic.What a pity. I was going to start, on behalf and under the guidance of FIFA, the local FIFA entity in China for the first Club World Cup in the new format. Unfortunately, and rightfully so, given the pandemic issues, the tournament was suspended.

I am proud of holding that boat together and leading all those areas (13!) with tranquility and decisiveness. We even implemented the first real-time Main Operations Center to address live issues. I enjoyed tremendously.

The Sport Competition Head position is one of the most important of the Games, considering that Sport is the heart of the Olympic Movement. I was responsible for delivering the actual product that goes on display, so to speak. It requires massive people coordination and leadership skills. The position represents the leader of all managers from the Sport Disciplines (42 Olympic/23 Paralympic), keeping the evolution of each discipline in line and solving literally hundreds of problems.Of note, we managed a USD 90 million budget for Sport Equipment, which was a legacy for Brazil Sport after the Games.Later in the Operations phase, I led the implementation of an exclusive sport competition risk management program, which started 4 months before the Games. We managed a R$ 10M contingency budget, solving many issues which allowed for better running of the events.

- Coordination and management of the relationship with Stadium owners and relevant stakeholders, in order to achieve visibility and influence on construction schedule and adherence to FIFA requirements- Management, through an R$ 32M contract, of the planning, design and scope for the overlay for all 12 FWC Stadiums, pairing FIFA representatives, Stadium and LOC architects and engineers, mapping and negotiation of change requests, delivery of technical specifications for the Host Cities.- Coordination and negotiations with the State/Municipal Secretaries (24 entities, 2 for each Host City) in addition to private stadium owners, regarding construction timelines and final delivery (including Recife Confederation Cup and Curitiba World Cup crisis). - Negotiation of scope and funding for the Overlay projects, both for the 6 Confederations Cup and and 12 World Cup Stadiums, which amounted to over R$ 600M project. Main liaison point for the State/Municipal Governments and private owners. Monitoring of the multitude of public procurement processes and overlay implementation for the staging of the World Cup.- Planning and coordination of the Host Cities Forum, held monthly in Rio de Janeiro to resolve and align operations, spanning all operational areas of the LOC and FIFA, in conjunction with the Federal Government, - Implementation of risk management program for infrastructure/operations starting 4 months before the World Cup, part of the decision-making group of contingency operations (R$ 40M budget).

FIFA ran into experience and operation problems with the incumbent team of the Organizing Committee, so I was appointed to run the Maracanãzinho Venue for the final delivery of the FIFA Futsal World Cup - RIO 2008. It was a tricky position where I had to show guile and diplomacy skills to blend and lead the team without being ignored or rejected by the senior leadership that was already in place.

The Rio 2007 Pan-American Games represented a major milestone in Brazil for organization of large Sport Events. Brazil had sights in staging the Olympics, and the Panams were the perfect opportunity to prove to all the Sports community that we could organize such an event at the highest level of its history, and also staging the first Parapanamerican Games to boot.It was a wonderful experience! As a young sport manager, myself and my fellow colleagues were exposed to immense challenges, in terms of infrastructure, city integration, and the sheer complexity of planning with an Olympic methodology. I started as the operational planning manager, which gave me a holistic view of the intricacies among all functional areas of an Organizing Committee. Later on, promoted to one of the twelve General Managers' roles. I took care of Venue Management, Spectator Services and Operational Integration, we all had to wear many hats. Exhausting as it was, this baptism by fire gave me a great sense on how to run an organizing committee. The delivery of the Games at a very high level - not without dozens of little failures - was one of the most satisfying experiences of my life.
