About Roberto Trotta
I'm a Professor of Theoretical Physics at the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) in Trieste, Italy, where I'm head of Data Science, and a Visiting Professor of Astrostatistics at Imperial College London. An award-winning author and science communicator, my new book, STARBORN, is now available in all good bookstores and online: https://tinyurl.com/starbornbook My academic research aims at elucidating the nature of dark matter and dark energy in the cosmos using machine learning and advanced statistical methods.I am the recipient of the Annie Maunder Medal 2020 of the Royal Astronomical Society for my public engagement work. My first book for the public, "The Edge of the Sky" (Basic Books), recounts the history of the Universe (the "All-There-Is") using only the most common 1,000 words in English.I co-founded in 2012 and was a director until 2020 of Data Fusion Consultants Ltd, a spin-off company dedicated to solving data-based problems with advanced statistical and machine learning methods developed in my cutting-edge research in cosmology. I work as a scientific consultant with museums, writers, film makers and artists, providing the help and support they need to make their artistic creations scientifically sound.
