I generated new designs for ultracapacitor modules, test cells and fixtures, and for small pilot assembly lines. I also designed and performed experiments to classify carbon based and hybrid ultracapacitor cell and module performance as well as developed new assembly methods for said cells and modules.

While working in the large format inkjet printer division (formerly known as Encad) I developed innovative designs for a large format inkjet printer and maintaining them throughout all lifecycle phases; including development and negotiation of detailed drawings and mold-ready models, development of test specifications, collection of test results, prototype ordering and logistics, rework of prototype parts, and assembly of prototype printers. Additional duties included coordination of Continuing Product Engineering design and maintenance, development of the design and drawings for complex large format printers within a very aggressive schedules, and providing engineering expertise for production of printer subassemblies produced overseas.

While with General Atomics I devised packaging of high current electrical devices for use in a challenging, shipboard environment, designed magnets and magnet production tooling along with various support hardware for a large linear accelerator beamline, and coordinated the production and design evolution of magnets while on site in Vannes, France for 8 months in 1996.

Designed an aerobrake from advanced composite materials in an innovative configuration that improved the aerodynamic qualities by 30% over typical aerobrake designs. Designed, analyzed, and characterized a family of space vehicles as a member of a small product development team. Produced a design for a mechanical fastening system for an array of heat resistant tiles for the X-30 hypersonic vehicle that met or exceeded all thermal, mechanical, weight and cost requirements. Designed a simple and efficient assembly of parts and processes that drastically improved the performance of a superconducting cable splice, significantly reducing the risk of a system failure. Coordinated an Integrated Product Development Team (IPDT) that redesigned a superconducting cable tray, reducing labor requirements by 75% and overall cost by 40%. Participated in an IPDT that solidified the design of a large portion of a superconducting magnet, and produced drawings for the resulting 290 components and assemblies within a very aggressive schedule.
