I am a medical sociologist and qualitative researcher at The Healthcare Improvement Studies (THIS) Institute in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care at the University of Cambridge. Previously, I was a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow in the Department of Sociology at Cambridge and the medical sociology subject manager on the multidisciplinary MPhil in Health, Medicine and Society.Most of my research to date has examined how cultural changes and advances in medicine shape how people think and talk about having children, with a particular focus on sexual minorities and men living with HIV. More broadly, my work seeks to advance the understanding of individual experiences of health and illness, interactional dynamics in intimate and professional relationships, and organisational cultures of healthcare systems.I have taught at the University of Cambridge since 2012, across multiple undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and have extensive experience in leading modules, lecturing and supervising in the areas of health and medicine, family and reproduction, gender and sexuality, and qualitative research methods.
