Boulder, Colorado

I currently work in the imaging department at Boulder Community Hospital. As a radiology assistant my main duty is to get inpatients from the nursing floors for their CT, US, x-ray, MRI, nuclear medicine, and interventional radiology procedures. Some days I work in the just the MRI modality and am responsible for setting up the scanner rooms for the different procedures, preparing and consenting patients and nightly paperwork. Much of my job is to assist the imaging technologists during exams and assisting nurses up on the floor with patients. Working at the hospital has been an extremely valuable experience since I get to see almost all areas of the hospital and many different aspects of patient care. All the patient interaction has solidified my desire to further pursue a career in healthcare.

My sophomore year I took a job as the Junior Varsity wrestling coach at Boulder High School. I was responsible for running daily practices and I was responsible for the 15 team members when we went to weekend tournaments. It was great to be able to teach something that I love. Most of the JV team was entirely new to wrestling. It was initially difficult to teach something that was second nature to me, but totally foreign to the team. Once I got passed this point I believe that I was a pretty good coach. Wrestling was something that taught me so many important lessons and I hope that I passed some of these lessons along.
