Dr Robert Raw has extensive experienced as natural scientist, much of which has been spent working to combat the impacts of climate change on vulnerable communities around the world. Through his work, he has been directly involved as a project development specialist for over 90 donor-funded projects involving innovative, multidisciplinary approaches to climate change adaptation, mitigation, and sustainable development for countries across the globe. Through these experiences, Robert has had the privilege to travel to over 20 countries around the globe to engage with local communities and understand their adaptation needs. These experiences and the diverse stakeholders encountered along the way have shaped my approach to sustainable development and community resilience, focusing on the interactions between communities and the environments that surround them, with a specific interest in integrated land and water resource management, nature-based solutions, ecosystem services, innovative finance, and disaster risk reduction. In addition to his role as a project developer, Robert takes what opportunities he can to share his knowledge and experiences with others through training, mentorship and reviews. This includes having developed and delivered detailed training courses on GCF project development for several institutions — including UNEP, the Government of South Sudan, and IIED — as well as serving as a member of the Technical Reference Group for the African Water Investment Programme, and as an external member of UNEP's Project Review Committee.
