Managed and ran a small T-shirt screen printing business with 4 other owners. I handled all artwork, finances and had final say in all critical business decisions. Closed after 3 years.

Primary software developer for multiple projects on the Storage team. Most of my work is done on the disk driver, which is in charge of all disk I/O, discovery, and setup of all storage devices for all NetApp filers. Accomplishments* Designed and coded a large software package that affected every NetApp drive and enabled them to push new drive features to their customers. (Patents pending)* Designed and coded a tool that runs on possible bad drives to determine if they need to be replaced. This tool saves NetApp millions each year by reducing “No trouble found” drive failure rates. * Managed and supported two internal drive I/O tools that helped the Storage group test the throughput of disk drives.

When I joined NetApp, shipping SSDs (Solid State Drives) was only a future plan. I helped design and create test plans, qualification schedules, drive requirements and vendor selection criteria. When I finished, I had qualified 6 different drive models and helped to set up two new vendors for NetApp. I did this while maintaining other software programming responsibilities. Accomplishments* Created a test automation suite to test all drives undergoing qualification.* Designed and implemented SSD test plans, requirements, and software tools.* Lead the qualification for the first 6 SSD models.

Trained and lead a team of four to develop a self extracting archive of automated scripts that increased the qualification speed of new hard drives. Most of the scripts were written in Perl and integrated into NetApp’s test environment. Accomplishments* Created the groundwork for the automation test suite.* Managed 4 contractors in India.* Created a log parser that found drive errors in large log files.* Unified the test process for drives, which enables them to be qualified through automation.

While I was in school, I helped found a small startup that created transparent LCD screens. Accomplishments* Created and designed a content distribution platform to push advertisements to multiple clients at the same time.* Created the company’s website using Smarty php template engine.
