I am a professional caliber public speaker. In 2009 I was voted unanimously as a "Qualified Speaker"​ (meaning of professional caliber) by the Orange County Speakers Bureau. I have been active in Toastmasters since 1985, earning Distinguished Toastmaster within my first four years. I have given dozens of speeches outside of Toastmasters; including at service clubs, art leagues, K-12 schools, and colleges. Below are three examples of my PowerPoint presentations:"A Window into the Artist's Creative Mind"​ - this presentation is about my art. Part of it features a series of slides showing how two different paintings were created from start to finish."Open Wound"​ - This is the title of my upcoming book about my experiences in Vietnam. I served with the 23rd Infantry Division in Vietnam in 1969, and saw combat on several occasions. Fortunately, my mother saved all of the letters that I wrote home from the field. I read excerpts from some of these letters and share my photographs, experiences and thoughts about this controversial war, as well as my subsequent bouts of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)."Evolution - the Fossil Evidence" - an educational presentation with numerous dramatic images of transitional fossil sequences showing evolution over time.

In 2021, I won First Place, Humorous Essay, in the National Veterans Administration Creative Arts Competition. In the 1980's Wildlife Art News Magazine published my article entitled Wildlife Fine Art. In 1984, the Long Beach Press-Telegram awarded me a "Merit Winner" for a letter-to-the-editor. In 2013, Toastmasters Magazine published three educational articles that I submitted. I have edited supplemental textbooks for a college professor, and written text for brochures and other publications. My book, Open Wound, about my experiences serving with the US Army as an infantryman in Vietnam, has sold well on Amazon. I chose this title because the Vietnam war has left lingering scars upon our nation, as well as the soldiers who served; including me.
