The challenge was that the hotel was not actually located at the airport, but the rest of the competitive set was at the airport or connected to the terminal. Shortly after commencing my employment, Marriott International sold the hotel, it was the main asset in a small portfolio for disposal. My main objective was to stabilise the team and transition the business to the new owner, before moving on. I stayed with Marriott and transferred to Manchester Airport.
