During my 35 years as a trial lawyer and champion for businesses, I have taken more than 30 cases to a jury verdict and begun over 50 jury and arbitration trials that were successfully resolved before verdict. I have won cases representing companies in a wide range of industries and am honored to be among a small cadre of “go-to” trial attorneys, nationally, for environmental litigation, mass tort and toxic tort litigation, product liability defense, and commercial litigation. I am a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and an elected member of the American Board of Trial Advocacy (ABOTA). Board-Certified in both Civil Trial Law and Personal Injury Law, my practice has taken me to state and federal courts throughout Texas and in California, Oklahoma, Colorado, Louisiana, Florida, Washington, Arkansas, Iowa, Alabama, Oregon, and New Mexico. I spent over three decades at Vinson & Elkins LLP, including as Co-Head of the Global Litigation Department and as one of the longest-serving members of the Management Committee. I co-founded Schick & Copeland LLP in 2014 to create an environment where companies can try their most messy disputes with the expertise of Big Law but not the expense.
