Samaritan's Purse South Sudan is one of the largest field operations within the organisation. There are 6 field sites outside of Juba as the country office. It provides assistance to the people who are in need as the result of the civil war, famine or lack of sanitation and hygiene.My main role is to travel to all field sites to train and to build capacity of the field finance staff that include 4 international staff among other nationals to make sure the organisation's financial and accounting activities are carried out according to field accounting policies.The finance reports' quality has improved significantly as the result of follow ups and consistent coaching to the field accountants. This helps the organisation's country office produce high quality of financial reports and help meet submission deadlines to the headquarters.

South Sudan

As a Field Accountant with Samaritan's Purse South Sudan, I was responsible to provide monthly report to country office and to make sure financial operations ran smoothly. I supported the implementation of Food Programs, Nutrition, and Water and Sanitation at the refugee camp in Yida and in Akuem. My main responsibilities included: Performed supervision to finance staff on a daily functions include: recording all cash, monitor cash advances and field expenditure reports, cash on hand reconciliations.Provided Support to Program Managers during the budget preparation and review processes as well as give financial guidelines during implementation.

Haiti

The Earthquake that shattered Haiti in January 2010 has attracted the immediate humanitarian response from all over the world. Samaritan's Purse responded in rehabilitation and recovery of the damages caused. I joined Samaritan's Purse Haiti in July 2010 as a Field Accountant. Four months later there was a cholera outbreak hit the country that caused thousands of people died. My main responsibility was implementing the new payroll system to more than 1,200 employees that we hired as part of the rehabilitation of the earthquake and the cholera outbreak.

Indonesia

I supported the recovery and the rehabilitation programs that include Child Protection, Construction, Heatlh, Livelihoods, and Education of more than 200 million USD fund from more than 65 grants.My main responsibilities were preparing monthly report, review monthly detail reports, bank reconciliations, Cash Advance register, Cash management, and prepaid rents and amortization expenses.

Samaritan's Purse responded in Panga, Indonesia for tsunami recovery and rehabilitation. There were 1,500 permanent house built as well as 3 schools and 2 clinics.My role as Logistics Coordinator was to make sure materials were accounted for and delivered for the carpenters. We managed to finish the constructions of 1,500 houses as targeted as well as finishing the schools and clinics.
