  The Resident role is a billable Professional Service, delivered to Dell EMC's Converged Platform & Services Division customers (nee. VCE Vblock/VxBlock) typically immediately after equipment delivery. A Resident is an on-site Vblock Subject Matter Expert (SME) whose purpose is to support a Customer with their Vblock. In my time at VCE/Dell EMC I have completed Residencies for many clients; including the United Nations, Governments, as well as clients in the Pharmaceutical, Service Provider, Financial and Healthcare sectors.During the course of a Residency I could be asked to: - Take Operational ownership of the equipment - Perform day-to-day administration - Troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise - Provide guidance on architectural and operational matters (e.g. DR/BCP) - Deliver technical training - Produce architectural and/or operational documentationEach Residency is unique and varies in duration, anywhere from 1 month to multiple years, and is delivered at the client's offices as part of their IT/Technical team. It requires an unusual skill set, with an equal focus on all technical areas (Cisco, EMC, VMware) so as to be a truly Converged engineer.
