He used the Snipping Tool to capture screens needing updates and made notes on those snips. He emailed me the snips and I could see right away what his main concerns were. I asked Robert to make some of the updates that he had suggested, and he completed them reasonably quickly and quite accurately. For the file merge project, I asked Robert to write a program to help save me time merging large spreadsheets with non-matching field names and differing numbers of data columns. He thought about it, did some research, and decided Python would be effective for the job. He taught himself how to use Python to get this job done. He hit a speed bump in the process, learned from it, and stuck with the project to completion. Along the way, Robert asked great questions about the information in the files and what was important to me in the final merge. I was impressed by his patient and methodical thinking through the process, how he explained his reasoning in his process, and by his insightful questions which resulted in a far better outcome than I had originally imagined.
