Book Trust is a non-profit that provides book for students in low income areas through choice which increases the motivation to read. We are currently in 19 states serving 50,000 students. I have the pleasure of working closely with teachers as a customer service representative. As well as creating videos, visiting schools and implementing other tools to make our job easier.

JCPenny Studios is a well known photography studio that provides customers with photos for a lifetime. In my role as a photographer and a sales person I had the ability to express creativity by photographing a wide variety of individuals as well as sell photographs for their keepsake. We provided different props and backgrounds.

This value ensured that I stayed focused on the needs of the students in low income areas. The second value is students first, collaboration always. Remembering to put the students first and always collaborates allows the students to thrive. Third, believe in the power of young people. Believing in the youth is powerful as they are the future. Forth is social justice for all. The youth and their families should have opportunities and privileges in their community even if they are living below the poverty line. Level five leadership is the fifth value. This value wants the corps members to be modest in their actions they were taking at the same time be bold and make courageous decisions. The next one is empathy. This is a powerful value because it is often easy to dismay a students feeling or what they are going through at home. But, it is important to acknowledge that their home life can effect how or what they do at school. Another one of their goals are inclusivity. Embracing differences that all contribute to the shared goal. The eighth one is Ubuntu. This one envoles being peoples humanity being tied to one another and being a person through another person. Can't forget teamwork. Although this one speaks for itself it is important to work together to provide the best for the students and the schools needs to enhance their community. Last but not least excellence. Providing the best you can be an strive to be the best often gives the best results. In my role at City Year all the values sums up my experiecne. I strived to make sure I made a difference in atleast one students life. I grew as an indivudal and reminded humble.

Colorado State University

Key Communities, Key Explorer Community at Colorado State University allowed first year students who came in undeclared to be around other underclared students and discover what they wanted to study in school. I was in the Key Academic Community my first year at CSU which inspired stay associated with the communities and become a mentor. In my role I met with students, was a resource for them as well as facilitated classes. Being in the community allowed students to find a home away from home.

Fort Collins, Colorado Area

As an Tech Support Assistant at the Center for Advising and Student Achievement I spent time managing technology like computers and printers. This organization also worked a lot with First Year Student Orientation which included helping with presentation throughout the summers and the school year. Setting up equipment, running presentations for presenter and taking down was a huge part as well. Through out the school year we worked closely with admisnistration to ensure smooth technology use.

At the Colorado Department for Public Heath and Environment interned for the summer. In this role I managed databases, filed paper work and worked closely with the CFO of finance.
