Teaching an "Introduction to Database Systems" class online to students in the School of Continuing and Professional Studies. The custom built class was created using Sakai and leverages an Azure lab environment. It includes the following topics: relational and NoSQL databases, creating single and multi-table relational databases, defining ER diagrams, assessing data quality, data governance fundamentals, introduction to data warehousing and business intelligence, and information architecture considerations.

Chicago

I uncovered business and technical drivers for change that enable digital transformation, most often in connection with data and machine learning / AI projects deployed in the Microsoft cloud (Azure). In MTC client engagements, I led and facilitated sessions using design thinking and ideation techniques helping clients define goals, critical success factors, key performance indicators, initiative priorities, future state modern data architectures, and roadmaps. I sometimes trained others regarding these discovery and solutions development techniques. I also worked with Microsoft partners in these engagements and helped drive other related activities and demos at the Chicago MTC.

As leader in North America Big Data team, defined analytic & Big Data architectural footprints for on-premises / cloud deployment and led customer engagements (on-site and at Oracle HQ briefings). Worked with Development, Marketing & partners launching products & developing strategies (for Exadata, Exalytics, Big Data Appliance, Internet of Things & other solutions). Gained international reputation as a speaker & author. VP & Executive Director positions 2006-2016.

Initially a Sales Consultant in the Midwest Area, became Midwest data warehousing business development manager, then Director of Business Intelligence in the Oracle Enterprise Technology Center in 1999. At the ETC, created first internal hands-on training sessions (Oracle XWeek) and supported North America wide sales in data warehousing & BI.

Us & Canada

Served as IBM RS/6000 (p-Series) Division liaison to database partners and presented data warehousing platform story to IBM's largest customers in North America. Worked with customers deploying RS/6000 and RS/6000 SP solutions. Coordinated original RS/6000 launch in Chicago. Served as one of four U.S. members on international RS/6000 Sales advisory panel.

North Central Us

Sold and supported Harris computer technology in the North Central area. Customers deployed the systems for real-time simulation, Ada development, and database applications (using Oracle) on Harris' UNIX-based and proprietary platforms.

St. Paul District

Managed a team of computer programmers developing engineering and business management related software. Also worked as a programmer developing software used nationwide in languages such as Fortran and C and building Oracle databases during this period.
