Advisory to Private Equity investors in due diligence and transformation of portfolio companies. Acting CISO, CIO, CTO for PE and Angel Investor companies. Led R&D and IT teams through next-gen design and consolidation of 3 independent company product and systems infrastructures, including migration to DevOps, migration from monolithic systems to Microservices/REST, and open designs for IoT integration. Acting CISO to audit security, build the security function and upgrade key security platforms for IoT Products (devices, panels, gateways, backend services), cloud platforms and enterprise systems. Led architecture and selection of Sales (Saleforce.com), Marketing (Drupal/Acquia/Google Analytics), HR (Workday, Successfactors), Product Development (Java, WSO2/Spring, Docker) and Security Analytics/Monitoring (Splunk/Hadoop). Established and presented monthly briefings to Investors, Board of Directors and Executive Team on product/services design, systems, operations, cybersecurity.

Leader for IT, TechOps (SaaS Production), and Cybersecurity functions. Architected a hybrid of SAP and cloud (SaaS, IaaS) services with state-of-art business intelligence and analytics. Spearheaded company-wide initiatives to improve enterprise service levels (IT Help Desks AND all internal servicing groups on to ServiceNow), improve collaboration and community engagement (Jive, Skype, BlueJeans), improve on-boarding/off-boarding (Workday/ServiceNow integration) and dramatically improve customer relationship management and data quality (Salesforce.com). As head of TechOps/DevOps, improved customer facing SaaS product service levels toward industry leading performance and availability. Improved internal security and SOC2 (and other) certifications for SaaS products. Represented company to customers, investors, prospects and industry forums on our cybersecurity operations and utilization of security platforms for optimal security.

Global responsibility for technology and PMO leadership with R&D, Fabs and Assemble/Test operations across EMEA, Asia and North America. Led executive team and Global PMO in developing a comprehensive IT Strategy and Roadmap, including process/systems designs for global supply chain planning and execution, demand/supply allocation processes, financial systems, Human Resources and product development lifecycle (PLC). Managed complex mergers and divestitures across Europe, Japan, China and Thailand, globally dispersed product integrations and led crisis recovery of systems and manufacturing capacity lost in the 2011 Thailand floods.

Led IT organization development and strategy for a highly successful medical device company. Developed Managed Services offerings for a cloud infrastructure (IaaS) provider that resulted in 3 major customer deals > $1M each in first quarter. Interim VP Operations for an Enterprise Data Center, Managed Services and Cloud Infrastructure business, including design and construction of a state-of-the-art co-location data center. Generated $35M in Value Engineering savings on initial phase budget of $165M for a 500,000 SF state-of-the-art co-location data center build and directly led as executive sponsor in over $30M in Sales.

• Led global process re-engineering programs for (1) quote-to-collect (QTC), (2) external web services/customer portal and (3) Engineering support services. Consolidated disparate SaaS product services into Cloud Services DevOps function• Established innovative business and IT strategies for (1) Collaboration & Document Management, (2) Customer Portal (all on-line customer services through a common SOA platform), (3) Data Center consolidation, sourcing and disruption recovery.

Developed design and implementation programs to address Product Development Portfolio Management, Scientist Joint Venture Time and Cost Management, Internal Procurement/Shopping Cart Usability, Capital Engineering Management, and HR self-service administration. Designed and built global Enterprise Systems team, SAP Center of Excellence, WebApps/UX team and PMO team. Worked closely with R&D Informatics, Clinical Systems, Commercial and Production IT teams toward better integration and architecture governance across the enterprise. Established a cross-functional, grass-roots team that dramatically improved Project and Portfolio Management across the company.

Launched major enterprise systems consolidations (ERP, PLM, CRM under SAP) to reduce costs and dramatically improve information integration and flexibility. Configurator implementation resulted in rationalization of product configurations credited with reducing overall COGS by 5% in first year. Spearheaded transition of IT to be closely tied to Engineering and Customer Support functions, including migration of many Engineering and Product Support functions into IT.Led IT to win KLA-Tencor’s coveted annual “Innovative Strategy” award, the first non-Product organization to win this award.

Built and innovated a global site operations and high volume, multi-tenant SaaS performance architecture from the ground up. Utilized large scale ecommerce approaches for scalability and large volume, multi-tenant architectures to develop SaaS industry first approaches that are considered standard today. Scaled Technical/Site Operations organization from 5 to 200 staff in one year, and from 5 to 450 customers in 1.5 years.

Assumed leadership of Site Operations when eBay’s auction site experienced crisis stability problems. Led Site Operations and Architecture functions through crisis period while addressing operations/monitoring rigor, distributed services architecture, global scaling, security and crisis response. Successfully drove site to stability and optimal performance by re-architecting entire monolithic infrastructure into globally distributed, scalable and highly available designs.

Track record of leading the most difficult systems and organizational change initiatives during years of hyper growth and strategic change – Recognized numerous times by Sun leadership as go-to leader for execution and leading change. Led large scale transformation initiatives for enterprise ERP (Oracle), SunService customer support (Call centers, logistics, professional services), Quality systems, SunSoft engineering support systems and financial/decision support systems.

Identified >$70M in missed joint interest revenue using advanced (big data) analytics to identify correlations and inconsistencies within millions of cost records distributed across companies, regions, oil fields, sources. Project Manager for financial analysis systems, land lease systems, preventive maintenance systems, reservoir modeling systems, security systems.
