A senior biomedical scientist specialised in infectious diseases and issues concerning resource-limited settings, I have been working on global health issues for more than 2 decades whilst based in Geneva and prior to that as an academic in South Africa. While technically specialised, I also work on policy and access issues and routinely work with the WHO and other global health actors and advocacy groups. I am currently a Senior Public Health Manager at GARDP, working on R&D access development of antibiotics, and was previously a Senior Innovation Officer at EGPAF, covering the introduction of innovations and new technologies in HIV and advanced HIV disease, triple EMTCT and cervical cancer. I was previously a freelance consultant, based in Geneva, including with the Global Health Impact Group and Market Access Africa. I was also previously the Senior Diagnostics Advisor for the MSF Access Campaign in Geneva, where I worked on HIV, TB, hepatitis B and C, febrile illnesses and antimicrobial resistance, along with transversal issues. I have also worked for the International AIDS Society on HIV vaccines and co-infections and for FIND as a Senior Scientific Officer to manage their work on HIV and HCV. I have a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from Stellenbosch University, specialising in immunology and tuberculosis, and had two post-doctoral positions at Stellenbosch University and then the University of Cape Town, as well as the position of Scientific Officer at the Desmond Tutu HIV Centre, before moving from Cape Town to Geneva.
