Manage the Home Intelligence team, which is tasked with managing access and visibility into our homes and handling trust & safety matters with the people who visit them. We use a fleet of IoT devices, machine learning, and data science to balance access & security and stay one step ahead of bad actors. • Project highlight: Rolling out a new generation of home hardware customized to the unique needs of our business model. Anything involving coordinating real-world hardware in the field is extra tough, but we evaluated vendors, bench tested hardware, coordinated specifications, connected a fleet of signals to our existing Trust & Safety intelligence logic, and got the project rolled out smoothly.Manage the Inventory Services team, which is tasked with managing 'back office' tasks for reselling a home: listing, utilities, HOA's, etc. • Project highlight: Designing a scripting system which allows for the complex and constantly shifting automation of gathering hundreds of data points from the business and beyond, and getting them accurately into dozens of MLS's, each with their own unique (and API-less) data requirements. Developed individualized caching solutions in problem areas where standard caching services were insufficient.* Migrated internal machine functions, application hosting, and backup functionality to Amazon Web Services.* Eliminated an unusual usage pattern in a cost effective manner—the academic presentation submission service had a usage pattern where 90% of the site’s annual traffic occurred in a two-hour period before an annual deadline. Performed load tests, performance tweaks, and dynamic server creation to handle the load surge without increasing costs the rest of the year.* Worked as AAR's technical liaison and contributor for the Apereo Open Academic Environment project.
