Civil Engineer Ii
Current- Improve analysis and design, contract administration and management of state transportation projects, and review and monitoring of the road improvement elements of development projects to ensure compliance with state requirements- Review and interpret plans, and follow Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) specifications, project bidding, and contracting requirements- Generate reports focusing on project progress, job operation status, and costs; attend weekly or biweekly meetings to present project progress information to superiors- Responsible for all project documentation files and implementation of the project management frameworks - Manage and follow up with all Maintenance Work Requests (MWRs) within District 7- Working knowledge of maintenance in GDOT Bridge Activity Repair Manual, GDOT Standards & Details, GDOT Signing & Marking Design Guidelines Manual, GDOT Specifications, and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)- Provides engineering expertise along with District 7 Traffic Operations on any Maintenance Work Requests- Assist to develop District 7 Office Invitation to Bid (ITB) and Rapid Maintenance Response (RMR)- Coordinates with contracts/operation facilities to ensure the status of Maintenance Work Request activities are updated and completed within the time frame- Travel to various project areas within the district to oversee repairing/maintaining rest areas, drainages, roadways, bridges, roadway signs, guardrails, and structures to ensure that roadways are safe, accessible, and operable
