Oct 2024: Well I have returned to publishing after a 4 year retirement! I have some new information to share - I'll have this updated shortly. Jan 2020: After years of being a publishing ops executive I decided to make 2020 my year of change. No longer focused on title or salary, I retired from a career I was mad about to embark on something completely different. Robert 2.0 so to speak. I had always been interested working in retail and providing both quality services and quality products to a community in need of both. I also love merchandising. The first stop in my career transition was Dollar General. As a Store Manager, I put myself in a role that allowed me the opportunities to make a difference in the lives of the staff I hired as well as the people of the community we served. I was able to hire people quite different than those I hired at Euromoney and Multipub. I was able to mentor young people and help put them on a path with a career that they never imagined they can have. The customers were quite different as well. Gone were those who could spend $2k on a subscription to access financial data, replaced with people needing affordable solutions to the everyday needs life presents. If you know me you know I am a compassionate caretaker and that caretaker in me was fiercely driven by these differences. In my almost 4 years at Dollar General, I was able to build a team that had the lowest turnover in our district, achieve one the highest OSAT scores in the company with a customer service score of 95%, and take a store that was so buried in last place in our KC district and have it become the #1 store in that district for 2023 and place that store in the TOP 2% nationally across all 20,000 DG's for 2023. It was a great first step but having accomplished what was needed, it was time for my next step. I am excited that my next step is my joining the team at Burlington Stores, Inc. Always a fan (and loyal customer as well) I am thrilled to have the opportunity again to work with incredible leadership that I had worked for at Dollar General and be part of a company that is rapidly expanding. Keep an eye on my upgrade to Robert 3.0, there is more to come.
