I was responsible for leading three Team Managers and an establishment of 27 people covering Warehousing & Distribution, Logistics and Data Processing. The Warehouse and Logistics teams handled high value orders picking and despatching items for over 1100 internal customers to destinations in the UK and worldwide. I ensured that all orders were processed OTIF utilising the most appropriate transport to include road, surface and air freight, including the preparation of legal and customs documentation with strict compliance to the unique regulations of each destination. Working variable shift patterns the data processing team developed, printed and despatched vital client documentation to tight deadlines using high tech Digital Printing and Paper Handling equipment. Key accountabilities were to facilitate the smooth running, promotion and development of my areas. To build and maintain excellent customer relationships and to ensure the services we provided were of the highest standard. To maintain strict budget control and ensure that costs were reduced on a continual basis. To lead goods inwards, space utilisation and reduce inventory control for a 44000 square foot facility. Responsible for the maintenance and the cost effective use of the company’s vehicle fleet and material handling equipment. For ensuring facilities contracts were fulfilled alongside preventative maintenance and site refurbishment where necessary. Also responsible for managing site H&S and Welfare matters in line with statutory law and company policy. Recruited and ensured through regular performance reviews that team members were trained and developed to their full potential and that personnel issues were dealt with appropriately. Promoted staff engagement and reward processes for the site. Also responsible for major capital spend from specification, justification to installation of the services or equipment.
