As a freelance graphic designer I work with both academic and corporate clients in developing visual design solutions. Portfolio pieces include an infographic poster for an academic conference that visualizes complex research processes and developments. Corporate work includes developing visual identities and colour schemes and applying them to logos, business cards, websites and presentations. I also consult clients on design strategy in terms of ensuring key messages are being delivered using appropriate and contextual visual languages. One of my most recent projects was developing wireframes for an international school site where parents can browse for international schools in other countries.

As the PwC's User Experience Lead I have led several design projects for clients across multiple industries such as financial services, government clients and utilities. I have developed user experience design strategies and approaches including user research, persona development, information architecture, design frameworks and design patterns that helped solve complex business problems for many different type of users. As a design leader I developed strong relationships with product, business and technology teams to ensure design adds maximum value to the outcome. My leadership role also includes ensuring the design team understands the full context of the problem. As a result I have helped improve user efficiency in completing tasks, simplify complex processes for users while maintaining or increasing business value, and create enjoyable experiences for end users. I am also responsible for business development efforts on UX services that have lead to an increase in revenue for the greater team and firm. This includes ensuring that PwC UX services are considered when it comes to solving complex business problems.

As a manager of the Information Design group, I lead a practice where we help clients tell the right story to the right audience with data. Leading multidisciplinary teams I help deliver projects to various clients in financial services, government and legal. Using design thinking methodologies, we perform user research to understand the needs of the client and then develop prototypes to validate with before going into production. Projects include redesigning risk reports using data visualization and information design best practices so that audiences can easily derive insights and make the proper business decision. Other projects include designing dashboards using design thinking methodology to visualize operational metrics and financial metrics for specific product lines and services.In addition to data visualization and information design projects I have also lead user experience and user interface design projects. This includes member and resident portals for government clients where we designed online experiences to make it easier for members to request and manage services. The design methodologies and processes I employed included user research, persona development, co-creation, rapid prototyping and user testing. Design thinking also plays an important role in our process and not only do we embed design thinking in our projects I have also trained clients in this methodology. As more clients recognize the importance of design thinking, I have delivered several training sessions that were interactive and impactful so that clients can walk away feeling confident in applying design thinking to the complex problems they are trying to solve.

Continuing at TELUS, my role as a senior product manager involves working closely with clients in understanding their requirements and needs. This is done through discovery sessions and design exercises such as brain storming sessions, paper prototyping, sketching and critiques. I am also responsible for drafting statements of work capturing client requirements for consulting services and ensuring we can deliver results within business parameters. In addition, I work with a team of data scientists on data visualization deliverables for clients. I use a variety of tools such as Tableau, JavaScript and HTML to visualize the data and use Illustrator and InDesign to layout in a PDF report format. Client verticals include advertising, transportation, retail, and tourism hospitality.

Working in Emerging Markets I am primarily responsible big data analytics research which mainly takes the form of data visualization. I primarily work with data scientists and business stake holders to visualize large data sets and develop insights for our external clients. I am also responsible for User Interface and User Experience design for our dashboard products. Using Adobe Illustrator, InVision App and other software design tools I conceptualize, design and test different layouts to offer the best UI/UX experience for our clients. Other responsibilities include developing visual resources for marketing and client presentations and validating vendor solutions for future use in customer solutions.

MeU is a wearable technology startup that develops interactive clothing used for experiential marketing and performance. We follow and implement an array of design methodologies, ethnographic research techniques, and paper prototypes to develop and test software and hardware components of our product line. As the CEO, I oversee a creative and ambitious team of designers and developers to bring our product to market by performing market research and testing, sales, and product development. To date, our clients include: Adidas, Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto Men’s Fashion Week, Ry­erson University, OCAD University and JaxCoco.

I designed and executed data visualization projects for industry partners by designing wireframes and paper prototypes for user interfaces, developing mock ups in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and other digital tools, and by coding prototypes and user interfaces using Processing (Java) and front end development (JavaScript, PHP and HTML). Industry partners included: The Globe and Mail, RBC, BBM Analytics and Zerofoot print.

At IBM, I developed client relationships and sold the entire portfolio to small and medium sized businesses. Being part of a business development environment allowed me to understand much of the IBM landscape, which included an integration of software products and design services. As a result of honing my corporate sales technique and team leadership skills, I won several performance awards including One Hundred Percent Club and First Line Manager MVP.

My main role is to connect our clients with the right resources within IBM. I specialize in covering the Financial Services and Capital Markets space for small to medium sized firms headquartered in the Chicagoland area.

In this environment, I had the opportunity to learn about UX and UI design along with hardware and software development.
