● Successfully qualified as Electronics Technician Nuclear and Reactor Operator.● Built an incredible character and work ethic which I continue to use today,● Selected to remain on-site as an instructor after Prototype training.● Maintained Section Leading Petty Officer (SLPO) throughout various periods of service.● Received 3 Bravo Zulus (award of recognition): 1 for outstanding performance and 2 for going above and beyond for shipmates.● Responsible for performing operations and maintenance of electronics systems for reactor plant and propulsion control and monitoring● Required to possess a thorough understanding of reactor, electrical, and mechanical theory involved in the operation of nuclear reactors, steam plants, and auxiliary equipment; possess detailed knowledge of chemistry and radiological controls associated with the nuclear reactor.● Support and supervise the start-up and shutdown of the nuclear reactor plant, systems, and subsystems.● Technology used: CAD for the use of plant simulation and diagnostics; airborne particulate detectors; equipment related to reactor plant such as control rods, control rod actuators, plunger-style and centrifugal pumps, resistive temperature detectors, linear variable differential transformers, pressure sensors, flow sensors, level sensors, solenoid switches, motor starters and circuits, steam generator and relief valve system; equipment related to steam plant such as steam traps, pumps, turbines, industrial battery systems, high-voltage transformers, steam condenser/vacuum trap; general purpose test equipment such as Fluke digital multimeter, Tektronix oscilloscope, megohm tester, AC/DC power supply(s), signal generator, waveform generator; computer-based diagnostic software; and PPE.
