Robert Vilera was born in Caracas, Venezuela, where he was surrounded by Afro- Venezuelan and Afro-Cuban rhythm.Playing and co- producing with various artists. Robert has had 10 nominations at the Grammy's. Robert Vilera has worked with Paul Simons, Shakira,Ricky Martin,Jennifer Lopez,Alejandro Sanz,Marc Anthony, Gloria Estefan, Jaime Fox,Queen Latifah, the late Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Cachao, India, Eddie Palmieri, Paulina Rubio, Thalia, Luis Enrique, Nestor Torres, Richard Bona, Gabriela Andrews, Richie Flores, Giovanni Hidalgo, Dave Valentin, Dave Samuels and countless other high-profile music acts.Robert has performed on television on such shows as the Grammy Awards, The Latin Grammy Awards, The American Music Awards, The MTV Music Awards. Vilera is comfortable working in any genre of music from Symphonic to Jazz,Funk and from Latin to House. He is also a skilled clinician who shares his limitless knowledge of music to younger percussionists around the world. Today, he is an established and respected musician, recording, teacher, band director, and master percussionist, and continues to push the boundaries of his craft.With Robert Vilera Three Jazz he has achieved something unique for his style. They are not a traditional jazz band with drummer, bass and piano player, instead Robert playing the drums like everybody else, he uses a “cajon Peruano” while playing the drums as well, all at the same time. This has never been done bofore and it is really impressive. The execution and the sound it is just incredible.
