Working as a Corporate Counsel managing legal issues for the company and its subsidiaries as part of the legal team with a focus on compliance and commercial transactions, also responsible for managing outside counsel, regulatory matters, real estate matters, employment matters, and other general legal matters.

Primary areas of practice include personal injury, premises liability, bad faith litigation, trucking liability and insurance disputes.

• Oversee the execution of real estate procurement, business transactions, mergers, acquisitions, and contracts• Provide legal counsel to executive staff and Board of Directors on daily operations as well as long-term planning• Ensure contract and regulatory compliance, including the acquisition of permits and licenses• Assess current and prospective company practices and procedures to limit exposure• Serve as primary attorney for litigation and arbitration for commercial, liability, and employee relations cases• Interpret laws, rules, and regulations related to financial transactions and advise management on policy and procedural modifications

• Conduct and assist unemployment hearings on behalf of clients. • Research key legal issues pertaining to civil cases involving individuals living 150 percent below the poverty, the elderly, disabled and AIDs Patients.• Drafting both formal and letter briefs in support for my clients positions and presenting them to the court. • Review discovery documents and draft memorandums summarizing what the documents entail and how the documents effect potential litigation. • Conducting client intake and communicating with clients about their legal issues and how to proceed.

• Researched issues pertaining to pending motions to suppress evidence in a complex criminal case.• Assisted in preparation for trial including interviewing clients, researching the clients’ legal history, and determining if the individual qualified for the public defenders office.• Worked with the DeKalb County Public Defender and social worker in order to place client in a treatment facility as an alternative to jail.• Assisted in arraignment including interviewing clients and working on plea bargains. • Communicated with opposing counsel in order to work out favorable plea agreements for my clients.• Assisted in multiple criminal trials including voir dire.• Handled administrative tasks of a Public Defender including discovery request.

• Interviewed potential clients and analyzed the quality of their claim to determine whether they met the objective of the ACLU of Georgia.• Preformed key legal research on complicated Constitutional issues that arose in pending cases, new legislation and provided legal analysis in the form of office memos.• Participated in two community enrichment programs, including providing a seminar to teachers and students on the level of freedom of speech awarded to students by the Supreme Court of the United States.• Developed and drafted the ACLU of Georgia’s response to the Georgia State Legislature’s bill authorizing the Ten Commandments to be placed in court houses.• Assisted in the ACLU’s legal response to the policy of many sheriffs shackling pregnant women.• Discussed with my clients how the outcome of the case will affect the social benefits they are currently receiving and probation. • Assisted in research and response on the Georgia State Legislature ban on twenty-week abortions.
