I lead application development teams and set technical direction for Starz. The applications under my purview manage the entire digital video lifecycle. This includes materials ingest, digital asset management, video packaging, CDN management, cryptographic key generation, metadata management, and user authentication. I also manage a multi-million dollar budget that includes capital budget for contractors and infrastructure, as well as operating budget for salaries and software. I help set strategic direction in the fast-changing streaming video industry.Starz originally engaged me as a consultant to help create large-scale systems that would support its growth into an international over the top (OTT) service provider. To that end, I have architected and developed back-end applications and services that support the numerous client platforms (Roku, iOS, Android, Xbox, and more). The applications have tens of millions of users a day.I subsequently joined Starz as an employee. Previous roles include Manager of Software Development and Principal Architect.

As the lead consultant in my software development company, I had a simple guiding principle -- push hard to deliver great software that meets business needs. I developed a broad range of experience in the technologies that make software work.I ran all aspects of the business, from profit and loss to scheduling and coding. Managing teams and contributing to the technical direction was my specialty. EMC is a global IT giant. I worked in the Microsoft Practice of EMC Global Services. I developed enterprise-class solutions. My responsibilities varied, based on the size and scope of the project. But in general, I was responsible for creating custom applications for large clients.I had the opportunity to work with clients across many different industry verticals -- healthcare, hospitality, government and scientific.

Avanade is global IT consultancy -- a joint venture between Microsoft and Accenture. In my role, I architected solutions and led development teams. Our customers were generally large; their IT needs were generally complex. I had the opportunity to work with eminent global corporations, on great projects.Some of the industries I worked with included financial, gaming/hospitality, healthcare and government.

This company specialized in creating IT solutions for entertainment industry clients. The home entertainment market had seen explosive growth, and the studios were struggling to find IT solutions to keep up. We built them.I had the opportunity to develop and manage projects for most of the existing entertainment studios -- Disney, Warner Brothers, Universal, Fox, Sony, etc.

Going to market as an entrepreneur gave me the opportunity to work with clients of all types, on IT projects of all varieties. It was a time where the internet was just starting to commercialize, so the opportunities were springing up from every corner.
