About Rob Fleisher

Throughout my 15+ year career as a teacher and non-profit leader, I've dedicated myself to advancing educational equity. As a Special Education English teacher in Washington D.C.’s public schools for 6 years, I specialized in helping students with learning disabilities achieve outsized reading growth. I did this by leveraging evidence-based practices, fostering a love of reading, and by integrating technology in the classroom. In 2016, I joined CommonLit as the ed-tech non-profit’s third employee, and was charged with defining and implementing the organization’s earned revenue strategy. By 2024, CommonLit’s paid services were purchased by over 2,500 schools per year and generated over $10M per year annually for the organization. Throughout my time at CommonLit, I worked with leaders from across the organization to design, develop, and iterate upon the organization’s products and services. This included CommonLit’s benchmark assessments, curriculum-based assessments, and suite of Professional Development supports. From 2017-2021, I had the opportunity to co-found and lead the day-to-day work of our Sales and Customer Success teams. During these years, I collaborated closely with CommonLit’s customers to ensure success with our literacy program. As CommonLit’s earned revenue surged from 2021-2024, our customer-facing teams grew considerably and I had the opportunity to identify, empower, and mentor an incredible team of leaders across our Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, and Professional Development teams. In addition to my work with CommonLit's customer facing teams, I've also led or supported hiring and team development across Product Development, Curriculum Development, User Support, Finance, Operations, and more.
