Rob has more than 30 years experience in hydrometallurgical operations, design and project management. He has worked on greenfield and brownfield studies and projects; with practical process plant experience developed from plant operations, process optimisation roles and commissioning. Rob's experience also includes research and pilot plant studies and demonstration scale construction management activities.Major projects have include Voisey’s Bay nickel processing facilities in Canada, where a hydrometallurgical demonstration plant was built before a commercial plant was taken to feasibility level. Rob fulfilled a number of key roles on the project, from Technical Manager and Deputy Project Manager on the commercial plant feasibility study, through to Module Construction Manager and Principal Process Commissioning on the Demonstration plant. Other key assignments have included Process Commissioning Manager on the Goro Nickel Project, and site support work at the Yabulu refinery and feasibility design for the Yabulu Extension Project. Further operations experience was developed in two years at Cawse Nickel Refinery involving commissioning, plant optimization, capital works and coordination of process test work improvement program as well as nine years with Pasminco (now Nyrstar) working as a plant metallurgist for most plant operating steps.Rob now leads Hatch’s Hydrometallurgy practice and is based in Mississauga, Canada.
