- Designed, implemented & operated vSphere 4.1 Enterprise across C-Class Blades and migrated all physical server infrastructure to new virtual infrastructure. Configuration included:Redundancy throughout, 10 Gbe Virtual Connects & switching, multiple tiers of iSCSI storage (HP LeftHand/x1600/P2000G3/VSA's), High Availability, DRS cluster w/ Distributed Power Management, VEEAM backup & recovery, vCenter, VMW Capacity IQ, vDR, custom multipathing and HP SIM Monitoring.- GroupWise 6.5 to Exchange 2010 migration. Project scope was very broad and required a lot of testing, communication, and close attention to detail to ensure its success. Projected was staged and included: decoupling from over 30 other GW PO's, client side config, co-existence between GW & Exch, Blackberry & BES migration, Forefront TMG implementation to secure OWA/OutlookAnywhere/ActiveSync, Archive migrations, and more.- Many other duties ranging from strategic decision making to day-to-day administrative/operations tasks.

Reviewing the current VMware infrastructure in the middleware/edge networks. Working on plans to roll-out out a SAN-based, scalable, robust, and redundant new infrastructure to include HA, DRS Pools, enhanced disaster recovery and fault tolerance. VMware ESXi 4.0 software running on HP C-Class Blade enclosures.

Worked closely with the CTO and other IT Team Leads to provide strategy and updates on infrastructure initiatives• Introduced VMware ESX Servers and shared storage (3PAR E200 SAN) to the environment to consolidate hardware, provide a stable & highly available virtualized environment and save the cost of replacing many aging servers• Responsible for supporting and improving IT infrastructure which consisted of: o 50+ Sun & IBM servers, running versions of Windows (2000-2008, 32 & 64 bit), CentOS, and Solaris Unix o 2 datacenters: Primary and co-location facility at Sungard o 3PAR E200 SAN running iSCSI & FC o Thin Client & Terminal Server architecture o VMware ESX 3.x & vSphere 4.0 servers o Nortel Switches, Cisco ASA and Checkpoint Firewalls o Microsoft Platforms: Exchange 2003, Sharepoint 2003 & 2007, SQL 2000-2005, BizTalk o Aventail & Sonicwall remote connectivity appliances o A mix of Off-the-shelf and Custom in-house software applications

In 1997, I joined London Guarantee as a co-op student in IT out of the University of Waterloo. This was my 1st work term and my 4 months seamlessly became an amazing 10 years of service. During this time, I progressed to become Manager of Infrastructure Services, responsible for the implementation, operations and enhancements of all IT infrastructure (Servers, SAN, network switches and firewalls, workstations, telephony, etc) across Canada and an office in the US. To clear up any work history confusion, the company name changed several times: London Guarantee -> St. Paul Guarantee -> Travelers Guarantee. Highlights:• Virtualized the infrastructure using VMware ESX 2.x & Virtual Center 1.5 in 2005 and introduced an EMC SAN (Clariion CX300) and IBM Blade Center. This proved to be cost effective, scalable and simpler to manage.• Spear-headed a Disaster Recovery project that resulted in a complete infrastructure transformation to an easier-to-protect & support fully virtualized model. The solution minimized "Just-in-case costs" and day-to-day operations benefited. This innovative solution was showcased twice at VMware Events in Toronto (March 2006 & February 2007)• Developed and led Infrastructure Team: Interview, hire, train, set expectations, evaluated and monitored staff progress. Instrumental in distinguishing my Infrastructure Services Group as indispensable within the organization• Budgets, Contracts, Vendor relations, Asset Management, Purchasing• Early adopters IP-based Video Conferencing (1998) and Blackberry devices (1999)• Architected Active Directory to support multiple locations with varied levels of access control• Led 4 successful migrations: Novell Netware 4.11 → Windows NT 4 → 2000 →Windows 2003 → Virtualized• Internal Training - Developed & delivered "Lunch N Learn" sessions across a wide variety of topics to staff across all levels within the organization.• Regulatory requirements, including PIPEDA & SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley)

Responsible for overall Infrastructure, including servers, network, storage, software, vendors, mobile devices, desktops, printers, etc. As a general rule, if it plugs in, it fell in my lap.
