Worked in NREL's Commercial Buildings Research Group, specifically on the OpenStudio software development project, and making LBL's Radiance more widely available to end users worldwide. My work focused on the integration of Radiance into the OpenStudio workflow, allowing lighting and daylighting designers to perform integrated daylighting and whole building energy analysis. Directly supported efforts to maintain the Radiance source code via a Git repository, and an automated continuous integration system for the radiance source code.

My tenure at AEC (now part of NORESCO) marked a shift in the application of my lighting simulation, design, and analysis skills toward sustainability. Initially hired on as staff working with several other talented individuals in a small daylighting-focused group, I eventually took on the role of Group Leader, mentoring new staff, writing proposals, and managing workload.

I am proud to say that I was the very first employee hired when celebrated lighting designer Richard Renfro decided to leave Fisher Marantz Renfro Stone and start his own LD firm. After nearly five years of collaboration with Richard at FMRS, I spent another six with him at Renfro Design Group, and still miss our daily interactions. While at RDG, I was responsible for all of the lighting simulation efforts in support of many (sometimes award-winning) projects. I also assisted on proposal writing, PR, and built and maintained their entire web presence. In addition, I managed the IT infrastructure, including the network support, telephone/VM service, and vetted and hired the excellent office manager who continues to serve RDG today.

Took one of the most significant architectural lighting design firms in the world to the modern era, singlehandedly taking the firm from paper plans and details to CAD. Migrated the lighting analysis protocol there from antiquated tools to modern visualization capability as well as broader simulation and analysis roles firm-wide. Also managed the entire server/lan/email/web presence.

I worked in the lighting design office of what was formerly Hambrecht Terrell International/Space Design International, which then became part of FRCH. I helped the small team of lighting designers there move from paper to CAD, implemented CAD standards for lighting fixture details, lighting plans and electrical drawings, and brought computer-based lighting calculations to the firm.
