Currently, Heydon is directing and producing a number of films.He co-wrote, produced and directed Ecstasy, based on the #1 bestselling novel by Irvine Welsh. The film opened April 20 in the UK on 56 screens. The Film opened April 27 in Australia and New Zealand and stayed in cinemas for over 2 months. The film has been sold to over 40 territories including Senator in Germany.Ecstasy was awarded Best film at the Mexico, Litchfield Hills, Big Island, Sacramento, Honolulu, Charleston, Penine Film Festivals; and won Best Cinematography at the Milan Film Festival. Rob Heydon was nominated for Best Writing and Best Directing at the Milan Film Festival. Sim Ex produces ride films like Days of Thunder the ride, Tour of the Universe, Sea Trek and many more. Heydon was the assisted in the design and production of ride films and the accompanying installations pre-show and post-show.The ride films were produced and directed by special effects maestros Doug Trumbull and Richard Yuricich who were the vfx supervisor and DOP on 2001 and Blade Runner as well as many other films.
