Profile bio

About Rob Holcombe

My two goals in business and engineering:1. To enable others to do their best work.2. To instill a legacy of productive focus. From a career of engineering, quality control, business process design, and project management, the most recurrent theme has been the leverage that an effective leader can provide their team toward a common goal. The leader knows their roll, not as the force, but as the fulcrum, acting to compound the strengths of others to achieve great things. Coupling the right leverage with a clear and focused goal, that effort is maximized, goals are achieved, and little is wasted to the periphery. Designing, building, and implementing the tools that enable this culture is my focus. Culture is the operative word - when this type of synergy takes hold, it grows, and it becomes self-sustaining. A culture, a legacy, of leaders upon leaders stepping up to support the growth and strengths of others through clear and focused work.A legacy of productive focus, enabling all to do their best work.

Listed skills include Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Machining, Catia, and 35 others.

Now I split my time between continuing to serve our customers as a Program Manager, and leading that department. Not only do we seek continued improvement in project outcomes, we are now implementing a continuous action plan to improve our department as a matter or course, not simply in discreet projects. By innovating the way we treat improvement, integrating it into our daily work, we drive the company to higher potential.

Intern, Mechanical Engineering

Mukilteo, Washington, Us

I was hired as an Intern to work with a chief engineer on the transition of archived Catia v4 and v5 files from their servers into a KeyTech parts database. Though I proved proficient with this task, the engineer under whom I worked decided to put my mechanical skill to work on a more pressing matter, pushing forward with prototypes of certain tooling. I spent the middle half of this internship building prototypes; one a full-scale A350 wing section, another a lifting mechanism for the composite wing skin. For the latter, I performed tests to collect strain data for heavy straps, and mathematically modeled it to anticipate sag in the lifting action. Through this internship I became acquainted with product database software, machining methods (Lathe and Bridgeport), forklift and 20 ton overhead crane safety and operation, metric standards, and more that I can't begin to list. Beyond technical skills I also picked up some understanding of corporate structure and chain of responsibility, which I believe to be almost as important as the engineering skills I was able to develop further.
