ABOUT ROB HOWELL▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬I am a classically trained fine artist. I my passion is action painting. Along with creating in many different disciplines, I have been painting since the sixth grade when I won a "Best in Show" blue ribbon for a colorful watercolor and India ink painting on 300lb Cold Press D'Arches 100% cotton watercolor paper at The Fayetteville Academy, a K-12 private school. My art teacher was Bob Myers. He later became headmaster of the academy. I will never forget him and his respect and encouragement. After study Studio Arts in the BFA program at UNC Chapel Hill I moved to Burlington, VT where my then girlfriend was a Studio Arts major at the University of Vermont where her father was a dean. I began living there in the old train station on Lake Champlain. It had been converted into art studios. The only bathroom had old urinals and a sink and one private stall. I had a small futon, a coffeepot, a dorm sized refrigerator and a tiny microwave. I worked doing at Webb and Parson's New American Art, Folk and Outsider Art Gallery on Main St.to fashion in New York as an illustrator/digitizer for a small embroidery company in Williamsburg, Brooklyn specializing in corporate logos on apparel and accessories. I worked my way up to Men's Print Designer | Concept Rig Development at Ralph Lauren, Associate Art Director of Creative Design of Ralph Lauren Advertising, Graphic Design Manager at Ralph Lauren Rugby, Art Director in Graphic Design for Ruehl at Abercrombie and Fitch and Art Director in Print, Pattern and Graphic Design for Coldwater Creek. All multi-billion dollar companies. These were all great proving grounds for learning about concepts, branding and identity.I have been prolific almost the past seven years running my own Creative Direction and Graphic Design studio working for numerous companies: large, small-established and startups as a consultant. I continue to work in the fashion and apparel business in Menswear, Womenswear and Childrenswear doing creative direction, graphic design, branding and marketing and I love it. I also sell my personal work. It's great to work with different companies, get to know their brand, then produce profit making designs for them.I am passionate about creativity and commerce.
