This description should change as I get settled into the team and figure out how I fit and can contribute. So at present, I am playing the role of a software engineer learning a new system and navigating the waters of some interesting code and figuring out how I can contribute to help improve and add features to the end product: http://dfstudio.comI've been writing some backend code to help clean up database entries as well as taking on bug fixes and tasks that need getting done. We're also in the early stages of a UI overhaul so as part of that effort, I'm exploring various front end frameworks and UI concepts that may be useful: Aurelia, Angular, Semantic UI, Bootstrap, various packaging tools like Gulp, Grunt, npm and in general, thinking out loud about what we can do to provide better experience for our users.I'll sneak in some blogging somewhere along the way to talk about all this as well :). Sometimes there's no opportunity to try something new with a project already in progress. So why not just start a new project and try it there? This is my space to experiment and see what happens.Some projects are programming modules, written with other developer pains in mind. Other projects are more front end and visually oriented, meant as a showcase. Others are even completely non technology related design work where I snuck in a bit of technology work to create.I find ways to create something appropriate for each situation and client. To find that right level of interactivity and design that's needed and figure out the appropriate tools to get it done. Sometimes it may mean trying something new, other times it may mean I stick with something tried and tested. Led and organized a global volunteer team to hold local events, promote contests, and participate in HackDay: an annual event designed to empower users to create solutions for their needs. Over the course of my career at IBM, I've stayed strong as a software developer as a core practice. But that role has often lead me to do participate in other aspects of the software stack, everything else from UI/UX design, to API creation, to community building, and social evangelizing.I've helped implement parts of the Corporate Intranet which reaches 400K people and built tools to help just a handful of people. The scope isn't really the important part, it's being able to produce something that the end user or developer wants, needs, or didn't even know was something they should have.I've worked alone as a fell stack developer and have also worked mostly on small teams, being on point to deliver key components that need to function as part of a whole. I've worked with designers and other developers to help translate their needs and visions into something tangible and useful.

Led the internal Virtual Universe Community through various events, education, and experiences to help promote the use and value of virtual worlds like Metaverse, Second Life, and OpenSim.During my tenure, I organized events, and led people on tours of various virtual worlds. I made contact with people familiar with them and organized information sessions to help promote their projects and ideas. Lots of community reach out and exploration of this new domain (especially at that time frame).
