In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, I started Haki Zako (Your Rights), an initiative to build the capacity of communities in Kenya to know and understand their human rights and fundamental freedoms and further be able to demand for them from duty bearers. The model is having volunteers in different fields, backgrounds, interests and counties who we will empower to respond to requests for human rights knowledge sharing and capacity building. So far, we have 250 volunteers spread across 27 counties in Kenya and are hoping to take on more. I use my free time to provide guidance and support to the coordinator.

• Ensure that all planned work is implemented strategically towards achieving project impact.• Assist in the development and distribution of human rights education materials that support Amnesty International Kenya’s Human Rights Education campaigns.• Assist in the planning and implementation of capacity building initiatives (including trainings) targeted at AIK’s strategic partners• Represent the Growth and HRE Coordinator and the Programme in relevant Human Rights Education focused meetings and forums.• Assist in ensuring that stakeholder participation is integrated into planned activities in order to optimize partnerships, ownership and impact of the activities.• To develop and maintain relevant records and progress on the implementation of the planned activities in order to inform learning and continuous improvement.

• Sensitize the youth on matters concerning the East African Community Integration.• Educate the Youth on the opportunities they have in the East African Community.• Organize workshops and conferences on behalf of the EAC Secretariat.• Supervise the creation of EAC clubs in Kenyan Universities.• Provide quarterly reports to the Secretariat concerning the state of EAC matters among the youth.• Cooperate with Youth Ambassadors in the other EAC member states to come up with policies and strategies that target the youth in EAC.

• Took part in the compilation of a compendium of cases on Socio-economic Rights under the 2010 Constitution of Kenya.• Took part in the implementation of the pro bono programme for the litigation of human rights cases under the Access to Justice Department• Took part in the organization of the second annual conference on economic and social rights themed “ achieving economic and social rights through equitable development” • Took training for issues on Social Economic Rights. • Assisted with research on socio economic rights issues under the Research and Monitoring Department.
